I have been working on a top down renovation of a beautiful but much neglected piece of Hokitika history. This turn of the century villa was built attached to bank building at the front and was the bank managers accommodation. Originally a stunning four bedroom home, it has since been used as a doctors and dentist and then converted into to two, two bedroom flats. Not much love has been shown to it in the intervening years and it has been more work than I could ever have imagined.
One very satisfying element thought has been stripping the layers of paint of the stunning native timber and creating windows to accentuate and elevate.
The front doors are in and the glass installed. Another coat of the stunning magenta paint and they’ll be done.
